BRIEF HISTORY :
BSF Senior Secondary School,
Shillong was established on 24th August 1969 with 6 students up
to Class III to provide education to children of BSF personnel.
Firstly, the services of the BSF personnel were utilized to run
the school. Subsequently, it became a full-fledged Primary
School in 1971.
On its way of progress by adding one class in every successive year it had
become the Middle School in the year 1975.
The progress of the School was recognized by making it a Residential
school in the year 1975 with 17 borders by FHQ New Delhi.
In the year 1979, the school was recognized by the Department of
Education, Meghalaya Govt. up to class VIII.
The school got affiliated to CBSE in 1981 and was upgraded from Secondary
School to Senior Secondary school in the year 1987.
The senior secondary classes started with the Arts stream from July 1989.
Science stream started from July 1990.
The school has started the Commerce stream from July, 2003.
Aims & Objectives :
The main objective of this educational Institution is to serve the cause
of education and to be responsive to the educational needs of
those students whose parents are serving for the cause of the
Nation.
The School strives to make the education useful and meaningful.
Considerations have been given to new emerging trends.
The new well equipped Computer Laboratory that has come up bears testimony
to the fact.
The intent of the School is to reduce economic and psychological pressures
from the minds of parents and students by providing best
possible educational facilities at the cheapest cost.
The Institution executes its functions effectively for developing
intellectual, creative, emotional and physical potentialities of
